About Peter

Peter was an NHS surgeon in East Anglia for forty years. Peter recently retired to focus on his parliamentary commitments. He is a trustee and former chair of the Norfolk Deaf Association.

First elected as MP for Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket in July 2024, Peter’s political passions reflect his professional experience; improving health outcomes, dentistry services, social care provision and palliative care, and cutting NHS waiting times. His main areas of interest also include rural affairs, transport and equality. Peter is the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness and sits on the Home Affairs Select Committee.

Peter is a committed defender of the BBC and in addition to his parliamentary duties he likes to keep fit.
