Celebrating Excellence in Education

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Nikos Savvas, CEO of the Eastern Education Group, to learn more about the tremendous work he and his team are doing to deliver high-quality education across Suffolk. It was inspiring to hear that all of the group’s sites have been rated Outstanding, with West Suffolk College achieving Outstanding in every category. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the dedication of staff and students alike.

I also visited Abbeygate Sixth Form, where I took part in a Q&A session with students. It was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from young people about the issues that matter to them. Topics raised included under-16 access to social media, concerns over inheritance tax for farmers, and other key challenges they are thinking about for the future. Their insights were thoughtful and engaging, and I look forward to taking their views into wider discussions.

It’s clear that Suffolk has some of the best education providers in the country, and I am keen to support their continued success while ensuring that young people’s voices are heard in shaping future policies.
