About Peter

Peter was born in Ilkley, Yorkshire. He attended school Guisborough Grammar School (now Prior Pursglove College) in Cleveland before studying medicine at the University of Sheffield. Peter undertook his postgraduate surgical training in Yorkshire and London.

Peter has been a consultant ENT surgeon in East Anglia since 1996, and remains in practice alongside his duties in Parliament.

First elected in July 2024, his political interests include health, the East of England, transport, rural affairs and equalities.

He is a member of the following APPGs:

  • Health

  • Public Health

  • East of England

  • Holocaust Memorial

  • British Jews

He is also a member of the British American Parliamentary Group.

Peter is married to Marian, a retired psychologist and former Sheriff of Norwich). They have three children, one grandchild and a dog.

Outside of politics, Peter is an enthusiastic cyclist, and his interests include sport, chess and his allotment.
