Mayor’s First Civic Ceremony

Yesterday, I was honoured to attend the Mayor of Bury St Edmunds’ first Civic Ceremony — a truly special occasion that celebrated not only the Mayor’s achievements and dedication, but also the strength and spirit of our town.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the civic pride that runs through Bury St Edmunds, and to pay tribute to those who go above and beyond to make our community a better place for all.

One of the highlights of the event was recognising our incredible local community champions — individuals whose tireless efforts often happen quietly, behind the scenes, yet have an extraordinary impact. Whether through volunteering, supporting neighbours, or running vital local projects, their contributions are the backbone of our town.

A heartfelt thank you to the Mayor for hosting such a thoughtful and uplifting event, and congratulations to all those who were recognised. Your work inspires us all.
